A Lifelong Connection to Canine Health

Nirena’s dedication to canine health extends far beyond her academic and professional education. A lifetime of caring for dogs and seeing firsthand how their health and nutritional needs evolve at every stage of life has shaped it.

Nirena's appreciation for canine health, nutrition, and longevity began long before Wuff's Canine Health Clinic. Two of her beloved dogs, fatty boo and Cuddles, lived remarkable lives, reaching the ages of 19 & 20 years, respectively. Their longevity and the years she spent caring for them shaped her appreciation for lifelong nutrition, preventative wellness, attentive care, and the unique needs of dogs at every stage of life. Their memory remains an important part of her personal journey and the clinic's philosophy.

Tuffy & Finn

Today, that philosophy continues through Nirena’s Golden Retrievers, Tuffy and Finn.

Their own health journeys have played an important role in developing her interest in preventative canine wellness. In 2025, abnormal kidney health markers led to closer veterinary monitoring and prompted an even greater focus on nutrition and long-term health.

Through these experiences, Nirena developed an even stronger appreciation for looking at the whole dog rather than an isolated lab value. Nutrition, body condition, lifestyle, age, medical history, veterinary findings and changes over time can all contribute to understanding an individual dog’s overall health.
Tuffy and Finn remain an important source of inspiration behind Wuff’s Canine Health Clinic and Nirena’s continued education in canine nutrition and health.

From Wuff Box to Wuff’s Canine Health Clinic

Before establishing Wuff’s Canine Health Clinic, Nirena founded Wuff Box in Trinidad and Tobago in 2019. What began as a business dedicated to enriching the everyday lives of dogs grew into an international brand serving dog guardians across multiple markets such as Toronto & Jamaica. Years of working closely with dogs and their guardians provided Nirena with insight into the questions, concerns and challenges pet parents regularly encounter when trying to make informed decisions about their dogs’ nutrition and wellness. As her education in Health Science and canine nutrition progressed, she recognized a growing need for accessible, individualized and evidence-informed nutritional guidance that could work alongside veterinary medicine. Wuff’s Canine Health Clinic was created from that vision.

Why Nutrition & Wellness Support?
It can help support

Digestion & Gut Health
Nutrition plays a critical role in maintaining balanced digestion in dogs. Targeted dietary strategies can help support gut microbiome balance, nutrition absorption, and digestive comfort.
Immune Health & Support
A well-balanced diet supports immune resilience and helps the body maintain natural defences. Proper nutrition provides essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that support overall health.

Skin & Coat
Nutritional Balance contributes to healthy skin and a strong, shiny coat. Essential fatty acids, amino acids, and micronutrients play an important role in maintaining skin integrity and coat condition.

Senior Dog Wellness
As dogs age, their nutritional needs change. Tailored nutrition strategies can help support joint health, cognitive function, mobility, and overall vitality in senior dogs.
Energy & Vitality
Proper nutrition supports metabolic health and sustained energy levels. Balanced diets help dogs maintain healthy activity levels and overall wellbeing.
Preventative Wellness
Nutrition is one of the most important tools for long-term health. Proactive nutritional support can help maintain body systems, support longevity, and promote overall wellness.
